Board of Trade to Foreign Office.--(Received July 25,)

Sir,

Board of Trade, July 24, 1908. WITH reference to your letter of the 25th ultimo, transmitting copy of a despatch from the Colonial Office forwarding a suggestion by the Governor of Hong Kong that the draft Convention for the mutual protection of British and Japanese trade-marks in China and Corea may be forwarded to him with a view to ascertaining the opinion of the commercial community in that Colony, I am directed by the Board of Trade to state, for the information of Sir E. Grey, that they see no objection to a copy of the draft Convention, which, however, should be that sent with the Board's letter of the 21st instant, being communicated to Sir F. Lugard for the opinion of the merchants and traders in Hong Kong.

I am, &c.
